Scales and chords were generally known except by a few. Many errors occurred in the following though:
There are 4 cadences
Chord V (V7) - I is a perfect cadence or full stop, so it's used at the end.
Sometimes this doesn't work so use IV-I, a plagal cadence
Any chord - V (not V7) is an imperfect cadence, or comma so it's used at the halfway point.
Sometimes this doesn't work so use V-vi, an interrupted cadence
Chord V7 is chord V but with and extra note.
e.g. In the key of C, V7 is g,b,d,f,
In the key of G, V7 is d,f#,a,c,
In the key of D, V7 is a,c#,e,g
In the key of F, V7 is c,e,g,b flat
In the key of Bb, V7 is f,a,c,e flat
Chord ii cant go to chord I. It nearly always goes to chord V.
